The snow has been falling since morning. Feather doesn't mind.

She sits at her wooden table and eats slowly. The way you eat when there is nowhere to be and nothing to prove.

The warmth moves through her like a memory she can't quite place. The sound of tearing bread, honey dripping slow. The feeling of being held.

Outside, the wind finds the walls and moves along them. It doesn't find a way in.
