Feather's Morning

Feather stepped outside and the world was already mid-celebration.

Chamomile had opened overnight, scattered across the clifftop grass like someone had been careless with the stars. Her laundry danced in the warm breeze. The sea below was enormous and calm.

She stood in her white apron and breathed it all in. Salt. Linen. Something sweet and golden she couldn't quite name.

She didn't go back inside for a very long time.
