The citrus trees lean toward her as she passed. The birds are already there.

Feather doesn't know where she's going. Only that it's forward. The flowers open one by one, as if they have been waiting for exactly this. Something in the air shifts when she walks through it. The snow on the mountains considers leaving.

She does not hurry. She never does.

And somehow, that's the whole secret.
