Feather sits behind the great oak desk, book open, lamp low. Somewhere behind the shelves Oak's pipe glows - vanilla and tobacco drifting forward through the leather and the dust. She doesn't look up. She hasn't for some time.

Peace finds her. Settles around her like a blanket. Like something that has always been here.

What is she reading? Oak knows. He always does.

He doesn't interrupt. She reads on.
